After a Saturday spent in the clouds or mist we awoke this morning to a beautifully crisp (2°C) but clear morning and so decided to get some fresh air after running some errands in town.  We decided to pop in an look at Organ Pipes National Park.  Actually we pass the entrance to it most days that we head into Melbourne, but have not really explored it.   It is a small park with some beautiful basalt rock formations, including the organ pipes.  It was pretty late in the day when we got there and the light was not good so there is only one photo below.  We were impressed an plan to pop in again, perhaps with a picnic.

It certainly feels like winter at present- some days the temperature creeps up to 6 or 7 °C!  A busy weekend which included a wonderful dinner with friends to celebrate their daughter’s 6th birthday.  Today we went to Werribee Zoo as it was much warmer down the hill.  We could also show our visitor from Kinder, Rusty the Bear, one of our favourite zoos.  Philippa was very excited that it was her turn for Rusty to visit, and Rusty came with her own suitcase, which included changes of clothes and a toothbrush.  What an organised bear!

Autumn 2010

Autumn is almost finished- already we are having cool mornings (less than 6°C).  In honour of the season I have changed the header banner on the blog.  Attached are some pictures from the garden and a few taken on a visit to a friends,  where young P really enjoyed running in the nearby park.

April 18th, 2010

A quick weekend update.  Lesley took some pictures in the garden.  It’s really starting to look quite autumnal here.  Then there are two pictures are of Philippa after she had been to a 4th birthday party, and was sampling the last of the goodies from her party bag!  The final pictures are from a lunch time walk to the top of the hill.

Easter trip to the zoo 2010

On the last day of the Easter weekend we headed out to the zoo.  Some pictures below.  Most notably the young lady asked to speak to the “zebra” – in contrast to a previous visit (admittedly, more than a year ago) where there was much reluctance.  Also included is a “rare” family group photo, taken by a friend a few weeks ago.

Easter weekend

We had a full weekend, starting with a trip to Daylesford to visit our neighbour’s new business venture. He makes herbal liqueurs which are delicious as well as having potential health benefits…… We went up to the Wombat Hill botanical gardens afterwards- the first of the pictures. The other pictures show some more mundane gardening tasks.  We finished another vege box, which is now full of soil.  Oh, and the Easter bunny also visited

We had a great night out last night with some neighbors.  We went to see La boheme under the stars in front of mysterious hanging rock.  A really special setting.  Most of the performance was during twighlight, and the changing light conditions really added to the ambiance.  The last act was under the stars!.  This was made all the more special by a fantastic picnic- much of it brought by our neighbors.  The performance was by a South Australian based touring company, Co-opera, and they were very good, and pretty interactive with the relatively small audience.  I guess that there were not many more than 100 people watching.  Some pictures of us ready to leave and one of the opera.
