We had a great night out last night with some neighbors. We went to see La boheme under the stars in front of mysterious hanging rock. A really special setting. Most of the performance was during twighlight, and the changing light conditions really added to the ambiance. The last act was under the stars!. This was made all the more special by a fantastic picnic- much of it brought by our neighbors. The performance was by a South Australian based touring company, Co-opera, and they were very good, and pretty interactive with the relatively small audience. I guess that there were not many more than 100 people watching. Some pictures of us ready to leave and one of the opera.

Sunny the chicken delighted us by producing her first egg ever. Very exciting to get our own fresh egg(s). A picture of the happy owner.

To contribute to a supply of fresh eggs we recently purchased 3 hens to come and live with us. The three Buff Orpingtons arrived on Friday and seem to have settled in well- including some time “free range”. Their names are “sunny”, “food-giver” and “minnie”. Philippa chose the names. Some pictures below…

What an absolutely fabulous safari to start 2010 with! We spent 3 short days in the Mara Triangle park in Kenya. We were lucky to see lion every day and cheetah one day- they even attempted to chase down an impala.

It has been a while between posts, but here is as update. We spent a wonderful Christmas holiday in Kenya with Lesley’s dad and many other family members. Below are a few pictures of the young lady delving into her Christmas stocking. This is the first year that she has really had a significant interest in Christmas and it was good to see her excitement at what Santa had left for her. We also spent a few days in the Mara towards the end of the holiday, and I hope to add some pictures from that part of the trip soon. Best wishes, to all for 2010.

We headed of for a five day camping trip to Adelaide and think that everyone enjoyed it. The first stop was at the World heritage Naracoorte caves. It was fantastic! Wonderfully cool (constant 17C) on warm days (>30C) with beautiful limestone formations, and of course, the fossils and interpretation centre- it’s the fossils that gave it the world heritage status. The camp site was well set out and had great showers- not something that one usually finds in National park camp sites. The rest of the trip was equally warm, without the cool respite offered by the caves. The bubble pictures are from a camp site in McLaren vale- we stayed for a couple of days. The salt lake was seen on the way back via Mt. Gambier- unfortunately it was raining there so no pictures- but the Blue lake campsite is on the volcano- within walking distance to the lakes.
